Dragon Quest XI is Being Developed for Home Console, Will Be an Offline Game

Back in May, Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii was asked if a numbered entry in the Dragon Quest series would return to PlayStation platforms. In response, Horii said that he couldn’t say anything at the time, but that he may announce something in the near future. Now is the time to get your hopes up a little because Horii revealed during an interview with Final Fantasy fansite FFRing that Dragon Quest XI is being developed for home console. However, he didn’t specify any platforms yet.

According to a translation provided by Gematsu, Horii said the game will be “designed for home console because it will be designed for a controller.” Responding to a separate question, he said that Dragon Quest XI will be an offline game, but we’ll hear more on that “soon.”

Do note that the translations provided refer to the game being developed for a single home “console,” as opposed to “consoles.” But we can’t comment on whether Dragon Quest XI will come to multiple platforms or not until there’s an official announcement.

We’ll update our readers when more information becomes available.
