The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Journey PS4 Release Dates Apparently Leaked by PlayStation

July 6, 2015 Written by Jason Dunning

According to a listing on the European PlayStation Store, mystery title The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is releasing on Wednesday, July 15 for the PlayStation 4 at £13.94. If true, expect it to come to North America on Tuesday, July 14.

On June 30, developer The Astronauts said, “We promised the PS4 release date… Still waiting for the final confirmation. *BUT* it’s mere weeks from today, not months :).”

The game’s description calls it “a first-person story-driven mystery game focused on exploration and discovery,” then adds:

You play the game as Paul Prospero, an occult-minded detective who receives a disturbing letter from Ethan Carter. Realizing the boy is in grave danger, Paul arrives at Ethan’s home of Red Creek Valley, where things turn out to be even worse than he imagined. Ethan has vanished in the wake of a brutal murder, which Paul quickly discerns might not be the only local murder worth looking into.

Inspired by the weird fiction and other tales of the macabre from the early twentieth century, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter aims to significantly evolve immersive storytelling in games. While it features a private detective and quite a few mental challenges, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter’s focus is on atmosphere, mood, and the essential humanity of our characters.

Meanwhile, Docs for PlayStation lists the Journey PS4 release date as July 21. Previously, we only knew it would arrive in Summer 2015 and run at 1080p/60fps.

Here’s the description:

Explore the ancient, mysterious world of Journey as you soar above ruins and glide across sands to discovers its secrets. Play alone or in the company of a fellow traveler and explore its vast world together. Featuring stunning visuals and a Grammy-nominated musical score, Journey delivers a breathtaking experience like no other.

When Sony gives out further details about the two titles and their release information, we’ll let you know.
