God of War 3 Remastered Launch Trailer Will Have Its Revenge

Available now in retail stores and through the PlayStation Store, God of War 3 Remastered is the PlayStation 4 version of Sony Santa Monica’s PlayStation 3 title, with developer Wholesale Algorithms making it “sharper, more vibrant, and smoother.”

In the launch trailer released today you’ll get a look at gameplay clips, various boss fights, Kratos being angry, and more.

Santa Monica Studio Principal Animator discussed the visuals of God of War 3 Remastered, reiterating that it’s targeting 60 frames-per-second at 1080p:

Now you can see every single detail of Kratos’ fiery blades in motion as he performs his incredible ballet of destruction. The gameplay, which targets 60 frames per second at 1080p, just feels better, and the animation of the characters look so much smoother — which as an animator is especially rewarding! We also added an awesome photo mode that allows you to capture Kratos and his unlucky enemies in great dynamic poses that you can save and share with your fellow Spartans.

According to the PlayStation Store listing, God of War 3 Remastered is a 36.8GB download and “gameplay supports 1080p at 60fps.”

The next game in the God of War franchise remains a mystery, but Cory Barlog did confirm its existence back in December.
