EA: Star Wars Battlefront Having “Extremely Strong Pre-Orders,” Expected to Sell 9-10 Million Units

During EA’s quarterly financials earnings call, EA COO Peter Moore revealed that the publisher’s upcoming big holiday game — Star Wars Battlefront — is already seeing “extremely strong” pre-orders.

While Moore refrained from stating actual pre-order sales numbers, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen did reveal how much copies the publisher expects to sell from DICE’s upcoming Star Wars-based shooter initially. According to Jorgensen, EA expects Battlefront to sell 9-10 million units across all platforms during EA’s fiscal year 2016 (ending March 2016), and not its total lifetime sales target.

Additionally, Jorgensen revealed that since the shooter is based on the Star Wars franchise, and it’s owned by Disney, EA is expect to pay royalty fees to the House of Mouse.

Do you think Battlefront will be able to sell that much during EA’s 2016 fiscal year? How do you think will it fare against this year’s Call of Duty title?
