Dying Light: The Following New Trailer & Price Revealed, Will Offer 10+ Hours of Gameplay

With gamescom 2015 over, Dying Light developer Techland has revealed some new details on the game’s upcoming expansion, The Following.

While a release date is yet to be determined, The Following will be priced at $14.99, with Season Pass owners able to download it for free. Set in a massive new area that’s as big as the original maps from Dying Light combined, the new DLC sees Kyle Crane travel to a hazardous outback ruled by mysterious and fanatical cultists whose beliefs have unnerving connections with the zombie outbreak.

Techland adds:

To get close to the cult and unravel their secrets, players will need to earn the trust of the locals. Through various missions and tasks, players will be able to choose their own path for infiltrating the inner circles of the cultists. In order to succeed in this harsh countryside, players will also gain access to fully customizable and upgradable dirt buggies. With its own unique skill tree, players will be able to traverse the vast expanse of the Harran countryside in what is their deadliest weapon yet.

Following a positive showing at gamescom, Producer Tymon Smektala says, “With its new map and far-reaching gameplay additions, it feels like we’ve hit the sweet spot for what players are expecting from us.”

Speaking with Videogamer at gamescom, Smektala revealed that The Following will offer about 10 hours of gameplay, with completionists taking about 20 hours to do everything.

He then discussed just how popular Dying Light has become:

So we knew that Dying Light is a good game, we know it’s going to be successful, but that successful? We are in the 10 best-selling games in the US right now for the first half of the year, so tremendous success. More than 5 million copies sold.

Along with a fully drivable and fully upgradeable vehicle, The Following adds a new crossbow weapon, SMGs, shotguns, quests, mechanics, abilities, and challenges. However, it’s possible the expansion won’t be compatible with the Be the Zombie multiplayer mode.
