Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Beta Might Have “A Few Surprises,” Update 1.01 Detailed

Update:

If you’re having trouble installing the beta, Treyarch says, “Make sure to update the latest firmware before installing.”

You can find more troubleshooting details on Activision’s support website.

Original Story:

A 12.5GB download, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 multiplayer beta is available now on PlayStation 4 through Sunday, August 23. You can gain access by pre-ordering Black Ops 3 and entering the code over here.

Treyarch Studio Head Mark Lamia talked about the beta:

We have poured our heart and soul into making Black Ops 3, pushing ourselves to develop the deepest and richest experience we could for Call of Duty players. We can’t wait for the fans to get their hands-on multiplayer so they can provide us with the type of feedback at scale to ensure we deliver the best experience we can come November. With the new precision fluid movement system, the introduction of Specialists and an all-new weapon customization system, there’s a ton of multiplayer content in the beta and that’s just scratching the surface.

Adam Boyes, VP of Publisher and Developer Relations at PlayStation, added:

The relationship between SCEA and Activision continues to flourish, allowing us to deliver content to PlayStation fans before they can get it anywhere else. Continuing to redefine the multiplayer experience, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 looks and feels incredible, and I’m thrilled fans will have the chance to experience it first on the PlayStation 4 system.

In the beta, you’ll be able to play on three maps (Hunted, Combine, Evac) and seven game modes – Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Demolition, Domination, Kill Confirmed, Capture the Flag, and Search and Destroy. As Treyarch teased, “At least seven game modes will be unveiled throughout the beta, including fan favorites and quite possibly a few surprises along the way.”

They added:

Plus, Beta participants will be able to play as two all-new Specialists in addition to the six previously revealed. The Beta also includes weapon customization featuring both Create-a-Class and Weapon Paint Shop functionality (Weapon Paint Shop not available on PC version of Beta) as well as gameplay progression covering weapons, scorestreaks and equipment (all progression will reset at the end of the Beta).

You can submit your feedback on the beta over here.
