The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Has Sold Over 6 Million Copies, CD Projekt Red Financials Reveal

In their financial report released today for the first half of 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt Red revealed that their big open-world RPG sold six million copies in the six weeks following launch. Previously, we knew they sold more than four million copies in the first two weeks of release.

Elsewhere in the report, CD Projekt Red confirmed a few interesting points about The Witcher 3, which we’ve placed below:

  • The development budget was 306 million PLN (about $82 million USD)
  • It took 3.5 years to make with more than 240 people at CD Projekt Red and over 1,500 people involved throughout
  • 500 voice actors lent their voice to the game across all localizations

Additionally, CD Projekt Red saw a 236 million PLN ($63 million USD) net profit in the first half of 2015.

With all the free DLC now complete, the developers are focusing on the two big paid expansionsHearts of Stone, which is due in October, and Blood and Wine, which is scheduled for Q1 2016.
