Microsoft Responds to Rise of the Tomb Raider Multiplayer Concerns

According to the September 2015 issue of OXM, multiplayer has been “cut” from Rise of the Tomb Raider, suggesting that the PvP mode featured in the Tomb Raider won’t be present in its sequel.

Addressing the potential lack of multiplayer with VideoGamer, a Microsoft spokesperson said Crystal Dynamics is hard at work on Rise of the Tomb Raider ahead of its November launch on Xbox. They then added:

In the coming weeks and months, stay tuned for more info on all things Rise of the Tomb Raider – including how players will be able to extend their single-player campaign and compete with their friends.

Based on their response, it appears as though Rise of the Tomb Raider won’t include a traditional multiplayer mode, but may include some sort of single-player leaderboards/challenges instead.

Rise of the Tomb Raider releases on PlayStation 4 in late 2016, following a PC release in early 2016.

Would the lack of competitive multiplayer in RotTR be a dealbreaker for you?
