The Witcher 3 Hearts of Stone DLC Release Date Confirmed, Physical Version Detailed

The first paid expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Hearts of Stone is releasing on October 13 in North America and Europe, CD Projekt Red confirmed today.

Featuring 10 hours of gameplay, complete with new characters, powerful monsters, unique romance, and a new storyline shaped by your choices, Hearts of Stone also includes a new system of Runeswords. “Each Runeword will impact different aspects of in-game mechanics, allowing players to experiment with various strategies and tactics,” they explain.

Here’s the description:

Step once again into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster slayer, now hired to defeat a ruthless bandit captain, Olgierd von Everec, a man who possesses the power of immortality. The expansion lets you choose your own path through an experience that includes recruiting a crew of break-in artists, spending a night partying with a ghost and outsmarting the most bizarre creatures Geralt has ever faced.

Free to Expansion Pass owners, or $9.99 for everyone else digitally, Hearts of Stone will also be available at select retailers worldwide for $19.99/€19.99. The retail bundle includes “a digital download code for the expansion, two masterfully crafted physical decks of Gwent, the card game set in the world of The Witcher, as well as a detailed manual explaining the rules.”

If you own The Witcher 3 Expansion Pass, you can purchase the Gwent cards separately over here.

According to CD Projekt Red’s Marcin Momot, “You can play [Hearts of Stone] after/during the main story. The HoS quests will be level 30+ though.” Additionally, “Quests in HoS will scale up for NG+, yes.”
