Rise of the Tomb Raider Might Contain Micro-Transactions

While it hasn’t been confirmed yet, it looks like Rise of the Tomb Raider will contain micro-transactions.

During a preview of the upcoming adventure game, Game Informer noticed an in-game message after destroying a certain number of incense burners. The message mentioned that a challenge had been completed, and also explained that credits had been earned, which could be used to buy card packs in the marketplace.

When asked about this, Creative Director Noah Hughes explained that the developers and publishers aren’t ready to talk about it yet, but will say more in the future.

We will be talking more about that in the near feature. Generally, we are excited about offering ways for people to have a connected experience. We’ll share details in the future. It’s a separate facet of the game.

In other Rise of the Tomb Raider news, some new gameplay footage has been uploaded to YouTube by Outside Xbox, offering a glimpse of what the game will be like when it releases on PlayStation 4 in late 2016, following a PC release in early 2016 and an Xbox One and Xbox 360 release in November. The footage can be seen below:
