Destiny Reaches 25 Million Players, Daily Player Engagement Is “Well Above” Three Hours

The Taken King provided a huge boost to Destiny, with Activision Blizzard saying in their latest financial report that the game is now sitting at over 25 million players. Additionally, player engagement is well above three hours per day, and Destiny has become the most watched console game on Twitch.

Previously, Destiny was at 20 million players as of May 2015, and at 17 million players as of March 2015.

For the quarter ended September 30, 2015, Activision Blizzard’s GAAP net revenues were $990 million, up from the $753 million seen in the third quarter of 2014.

CEO Bobby Kotick said:

We continue to benefit from our focus on creating the world’s best interactive entertainment. Our incredibly talented employees around the world once again delivered great content and strong financial results. Mobile gaming is the largest and fastest-growing opportunity for interactive entertainment and we will have one of the world’s most successful mobile game companies and its talented teams providing great content to new customers, in new geographies throughout the world. King has a truly fantastic management team and over 1,600 incredibly talented employees and we are excited to welcome them into the Activision Blizzard family.

Some highlights from their financial report include double-digit percentage increases year-over-year for the Call of Duty franchise, thanks to strong sales of Black Ops, Black Ops 2, and Advanced Warfare, for both the full games and Supply Drops. On top of that, Advanced Warfare is still the #1 game on next-gen consoles life-to-date.

Meanwhile, Skylanders SuperChargers is “one of Skylanders’ highest-rated entries to date and has strong engagement, with more toys per player than last year,” and World of Warcraft is sitting at 5.5 million subscribers.
