Fenix Rage to Undergo Name Change Before PS4 Launch

Fenix Rage‘s long-awaited jump to consoles has hit an unexpected roadblock.

According to the game’s official Twitter page, indie developer Green Lava Studios has been forced to alter the name of the platformer prior to its launch across PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Fenix got some unexpected news today…When Fenix arrives on #XboxOne and #PS4 he’ll have a new name! Coming Soon!

Could this have something to do with Bethesda Softworks’ first-person shooter, Rage?

Aside from the rebranding, the dev didn’t disclose when the platformer will make the jump from PC to consoles. Initially slated for fall of 2014, all has been quiet on the Fenix Rage front since it was delayed to 2015 and today’s news, while unfortunate, doesn’t bring us any word of a concrete release window.

Indeed if Bethesda is pushing for the name change, it isn’t the first time that the publisher has become involved in a trademark dispute, after threatening legal action against Minecraft developer Mojang over its use of Scrolls in 2012. Bethesda’s involvement — or lack thereof — is still up for question for now, and the company is yet to release anything official.
