Fallout 4 Shipped 12 Million Copies for Day One, Equaling $750 Million in Sales

Released on Tuesday, November 10, Fallout 4 shipped approximately 12 million units worldwide to meet day one demand at retail and digital stores on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, which equals more than $750 million in sales.

The most pre-ordered game of the year at some retailers, Fallout 4 also saw the Pip-Boy Edition sell out within hours of announced availability, making it the fastest-selling collector’s edition of any game in history “at leading retailers.” Additionally, “some of the leading retail chains” revealed that launch day sales were the largest of any game in 2015, with Bethesda shipping out more copies to meet demand.

On the digital side of things, Fallout 4 became the #1 game played on Steam with over 470,000 concurrent players, The companion app, meanwhile, became the number one game on the iTunes App Store, and Fallout 4 became the most viewed game launch of 2015, according Twitch.

Support for Fallout 4 will continue well into 2016, with Bethesda planning mod support and DLC.
