Activision: Black Ops 3 Saw the Largest Release of Any Title in North America Since 2013

Shortly after the November 2015 NPD report came out and revealed Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 as the #1 selling game, Activision announced that it saw the biggest release of any retail title in North America since 2013.

Not only that, but Activision says Black Ops 3 beat all other new releases in November “by a wide-margin,” and retail and digital sales are up significantly compared to the same time last year.

Here’s what Rob Kostich, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Call of Duty at Activision, had to say:

Black Ops III was the largest release in North America in November by a wide-margin in both units and dollars sold-thru. According to NPD, Call of Duty also was the largest release of any title in North America since 2013, based on physical units sold at retail in its launch month.

There’s tremendous momentum for Call of Duty this holiday. Both retail and digital sales are up significantly versus the same time last year. And our community has responded enthusiastically, driving engagement to new franchise highs on next gen consoles in its first month of release.

Last month, Activision said Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 sold $550 million in its first three days.

Are you surprised by the success of Black Ops 3? Will you be participating in the double XP weekend?
