As he’s been doing since launch, Treyarch Studio Design Director David Vonderhaar detailed the latest Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 hotfix update.
Scheduled to be the last gameplay tuning hotfix of 2015, 43.7.27.5 includes these changes:
Weapon Tuning
XR-2
- Increased ADS aim stability
- Increased recoil control
ICR
- Increased ADS aim stability
Sheiva
- Increased ADS aim stability
All LMGs
- Increased ADS aim stability
Locus
- Increased ADS aim stability
KRM-262
- Increased lethal damage range
Argus
- Increased lethal damage range
All SMGs
- Reduced sprint out speed
Specialist Abilities/Weapon Tuning:
Rejack
- Increased rejack stand up speed
Ripper
- Reduced leftover Sspecialist power when dying while active
Bug Fixes
- GI unit pathing, Collision issues, Codcaster, Flak Jacket not working if not unlocked.
Vonderhaar added, “This one is important. Dark Matter Camo can only be applied to Black Market weapons if Diamond is unlocked on that weapon. You DO NOT need to have any Black Market weapons to unlock Dark Camo on the “normal” unlockable weapons.”
The reason this hotfix has so many changes is because we won’t see the next full update “for a bit.”
After talking about how they’re constantly trying to track balance in Weapons, Attachments, Specialist Weapons & Abilities, Perks, and Scorestreaks, Vonderhaar said they won’t make any changes solely based on demand:
I have as much fun as anyone with when I interact with you all, but we won’t ever make a tuning decision because some folks got #bufftheweapon trending, your Tweet got 1000 likes and/or RTs, or because a popular YouTuber made a video.
Some of the time, these thing match up with what we are seeing. Just as often, they do not. I honestly do not care how many of your followers and subs agree with you.
We use this kind of stuff as an opportunity to investigate and evaluate and be sure we didn’t miss something. However, it’s not, and will never be, the decision maker.
He also doesn’t want the development team to be afraid of making changes to the game tuning. “If it’s the right thing to do, we should do it,” he added.
As announced yesterday, the first expansion for Black Ops 3, Awakening, releases on February 2 for PlayStation 4.
Will you be playing Black Ops 3 over the holidays?
