Become a Space Pirate in Rebel Galaxy, Coming to PS4 on January 5, 2016

Announced back in 2014, Rebel Galaxy from Double Damage Games is coming to PlayStation 4 on January 5, 2016 in North America, with an Xbox One release set for January 13. A European PS4 launch will happen on either January 12 or January 19.

Priced at $19.99, this “action-packed, swashbuckling space opera” will run at 1080p/30fps on both PS4 and Xbox One. If you’re hoping to play Rebel Galaxy in a language other than English, Double Damage said, “We haven’t done any translations yet – we’re looking into them in the new year, so for now, it’s English only.”

Sitting at a Very Positive average on Steam after 1,500 user reviews, here’s the description for Rebel Galaxy:

Rebel Galaxy is a swashbuckling space adventure, with action-packed combat, exploration, discovery, trade, and “negotiation” with the outlandish denizens at the edge of the known universe.

As the commander of an immensely powerful star destroyer, you’ll battle pirates, explore anomalies, befriend aliens, scavenge battle wreckage, mine asteroids, and discover artifacts. Choose your path as a roguish do-gooder, crafty space-trader or power-hungry privateer – or maybe a little of each! Buy larger and more powerful craft with your hard-earned credits, and outfit them with a variety of wicked weapons and defenses. Set in a galaxy of fantastic sights, and secrets to be found, Rebel Galaxy is above all a space epic of adventure, exploration, and combat.

The edge of the universe is a pretty dangerous place, so watch your back.

A physical release of Rebel Galaxy is unlikely, with Double Damage adding, “Cost of goods for a 20 dollar game [is] the same as a 60 dollar one and we’d have to have a publisher.”
