With less than a week to go in its Fig campaign, Psychonauts 2 from Double Fine was successfully funded after raising $3.3 million from backers.

Along with the above video message, Double Fine said:

Holy Smokes! We did it you guys! Psychonauts 2 is now fully funded!

We want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for making this possible. We’ve wanted to make this game for a long time, and now we finally can! So thank you, thank you, thank you!

So what happens next? Well, we still have 5 days to go, so we’ll be continuing the campaign. Everything we raise will go into making the game better, bigger, and shinier, so let’s keep going!

We’ll have some mission updates soon, plus we want to show off some new add-ons we’ve been working on too, so stay tuned!

Tim Schafer, Project Lead on Psychonauts 2, added, “We’re so grateful to our backers for giving us this chance to continue the story of Raz and the Psychonauts. Knowing that they will be able to participate as investors in the game makes the whole thing feel more fair and more rewarding.”

A couple stats from the campaign include the fact that $3.3 million was the largest crowdfunding target goal ever for a video game, and Psychonauts 2 is in the top 10 highest-crowdfunded games of all time.

Here’s the description for Psychonauts 2:

In Psychonauts 2, Raz will realize his dreams and visit the Psychonauts Headquarters as a fully established agent. But when he gets there he finds it’s not the perfect place he expected and he quickly realizes that the Psychonauts need him, more than he needs them.

Right now, Psychonauts 2 has an estimated release window of fall 2018 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
