Sledgehammer Begins Hiring Spree for Call of Duty 2017, Focus on “Hyper Realism”

Infinity Ward may be taking the reins for 2016, but that hasn’t quelled Sledgehammer’s enthusiasm to push ahead for Call of Duty 2017.

More than 40 job vacancies have been posted via Activision’s official page, indicating that the developer is conducting a major hiring spree as it looks to ramp up production. And though there’s no official mention of the specifics of the nascent title, the posts indicate that Sledgehammer is gunning for “hyper realism” in its next Call of Duty game, while maintaining 60fps as a benchmark across PS4 and Xbox One.

Per Activision:

The VFX team at Sledgehammer Games is looking for an experienced and passionate Senior VFX artist to join our AAA team. In this position, the artist will work closely with the Lead VFX Artist, Art Director, Technical Art Director, Lighting and Design team to create the most exceptional real-time effects with a focus on hyper realism for our next Call of Duty game.

Currently, all signs point to Sledgehammer pushing ahead with a sequel to Advanced Warfare, which released to overly positive reviews in 2014.
