Resident Evil 0 Launch Trailer Prepares You for the Prequel

Reviewed by us yesterday, Resident Evil 0 is available digitally today on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC in North America and Europe. The Resident Evil Origins Collection, which bundles together RE0 and Resident Evil, was released at retail today for PS4 and Xbox One in North America, with Europe getting it on Friday.

As Capcom explains:

Resident Evil 0 takes the fear-inducing atmosphere from the original 2002 release and transforms it with stunning new HD visuals, improved sound, widescreen support, an optional modernized control system and more. A prequel to the original Resident Evil, the title offers newcomers and series fans the chance to revisit the story of what really happened before the iconic Mansion Incident that was the catalyst for the entire Resident Evil saga.

After beating the main campaign, Wesker Mode will be unlocked, letting you play as villain Albert Wesker, powered up with abilities he gained from the Uroboros virus in Resident Evil 5. “Why that version?” Capcom asks. “Well, in the spirit of goofy bonus modes like ye olde Tofu mode, we wanted a really overpowered character, and who’s more overpowered than a self-proclaimed god?”

You’ll also be able to buy Resident Evil 0 costume packs separately on the PlayStation Store today if you didn’t receive them through a pre-order. Priced at £2.49 each (North American prices will be slightly higher), or £7.99 for the bundle, the costumes include Sportswear, Cheerleader, Nurse, and more for Rebecca, with Billy getting Wolf Force and Cody (Street Fighter). The costumes don’t affect gameplay.
