Electronic Arts Isn’t Trying to be a “Corporate Beast,” Says CEO Andrew Wilson

Speaking at the BC Tech Summit this past Tuesday, Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson said that although the company doesn’t have a great reputation in the industry, it’s not trying to be the “corporate beast” that it’s made out to be.

If you understand the video game business, EA — the branding is this corporate beast that just wants to take money from them while people play our games. That’s not actually what we’re trying to do.

Referring to changing consumer trends, Wilson gave the example of its EA Access service, stating:

For the longest time in civilization, we would spend money as human beings, then we would spend time where we spent our money. That’s reversed now. You come in, and play a bunch of games, and ultimately you invest after that.

EA Access is available for Xbox One. The service was in consideration for the PlayStation 4 as well, however, Sony believed that it didn’t bring the kind of value PlayStation owners expected.

What do our readers make of Wilson’s comments?
