Square Enix’s Thief franchise is all set to receive the Hollywood treatment as Straight Up Films has acquired the rights to make a movie based on the video game series. According to Hollywood Reporter, the movie will be set in Thief‘s “dark fantasy world where a master thief tries to restore freedom, which has been denied by a magic-wielding tyrant.”
The screenplay will be written by Adam Mason and Simon Boyes (Misconduct, Not Safe for Work). The movie will be co-produced by Straight Up Films, Source Rock and Square Enix.
No further details are available at the moment but we should find out more about the project in due course.
