Hitman’s Offline & Online Saves Will Continue to Be Incompatible, Io-Interactive Suggests

As owners of the game discovered after Hitman first launched earlier this month, saves you make while playing online are incompatible with saves you make while playing offline. On top of that, if the connection is ever lost, people have reported being returned back to the main menu during a mission.

A spokesperson for developer Io-Interactive spoke with Eurogamer recently, saying, “When we announced Hitman, we explained to fans and to gamers everywhere how we are creating a live game.” They added that this live content includes new contracts, escalations contracts, elusive targets, and additional challenges.

Addressing the incompatibility between online and offline saves, Io-Interactive suggests it’s here to stay:

It is possible to enjoy the locations offline, but in order to ensure player-progress of the live content is correct and up to date, the save states for online and offline are kept separate.

In other Hitman news, update 1.03 is “coming soon” and will return missing pre-order items, improve load times, and tackle disconnects and crashing due to server issues.
