Alicia Vikander Has Been Cast as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider Movie Reboot

Alicia Vikander, star of Danish Girl and Ex Machina, has been cast to play Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider movie reboot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the reboot “will tell the story of a young and untested Croft fighting to survive her first adventure.” Much like the successful 2013 game series reboot, it seems.

Roar Uthaug (The Wave, Cold Prey) will be directing the movie, with Warner Bros. and MGM co-producing. The latter will also be overseeing production.

2015 was a busy year for Vikander, who secured the spotlight in Ex Machina, Burnt, and The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Before venturing off to find hidden tombs, the 27-year-old actress will be seen joining Matt Damon in Jason Bourne, and Michael Fassbender in The Light Between Oceans.

How will Alicia Vikander compare to Angelina Jolie? Do you think Vikander is a good choice for a younger Lara Croft? Let us know.
