Activision Claims 85% of PS4s Sold During Q1 in the US Were Sold With a Copy of Black Ops 3

Having revealed Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare to an overwhelmingly negative response, publisher Activision ended up having to answer investors about poor fan reception during a recent earnings call. While we’ve already reported on CEO Eric Hirshberg’s remarks in which he downplayed the reception Infinite Warfare‘s reveal received, COO Thomas Tippl revealed another interesting statistic about the franchise, which has been shared by MCV UK. Apparently, 85 percent of PlayStation 4 consoles sold during the first quarter of this year in the US were sold with a copy of Black Ops 3.

Tippl shared this percentage while highlighting the series’ popularity, stating that this number is “an amazing statistic which bodes well for the franchises’ engagement” and said that “in-game play investment continued to expand rapidly.” Combine this with Hirshberg revealing that Infinite Warfare‘s pre-orders are off to a “great start,” and you have a company confident that the upcoming title will sell according to expectations despite fan response.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is out on November 4 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
