Assassin’s Creed Movie “Not a One-Off” as Producers Talk Sequel Plans

Keen to jump-start a movie franchise much like its video game kin, New Regency and Ubisoft are confident this year’s Assassin’s Creed movie won’t be a “one-off,” revealing that early plans for two additional sequels are already in place.

That’s according to Producer Pat Crowley, who told IGN that the December release — one helmed by Macbeth and Snowtown director Justin Kurzel — won’t be a flash in the pan: “It’s not a one-off. Everybody expects that this movie will continue.”

Word of a sequel first surfaced back in March, when a report claimed that Michael Fassbender was already attached to an Assassin’s Creed sequel, teaming with key players from both Ubisoft Motion Pictures and New Regency. At least for now, nothing is set in stone.

Assassin’s Creed has been penciled in for a theatrical release on December 21. Earlier today, we learned that 65 percent of the movie will take place in the present day, where Michael Fassbender will play Callum Lynch.
