Blizzard Plans to “Keep an Eye” On Cross-Console Play for Overwatch

Blizzard is entertaining the notion of one day introducing cross-platform play to Overwatch — but only for consoles.

Word of the proposed feature emerges via the shooter’s official Twitter account, revealing that Blizzard plans to “keep an eye” on cross-platform possibilities across PS4 and Xbox One.

Those Overwatch players on PC won’t be locking horns with their console brethren anytime soon, though, with the account noting that “mixing mouse/keyboard and controller can have balance and competitive issues.”

Elsewhere, Blizzard also revealed plans to implement Facebook sign-in functionality across its entire software catalog. This enables players to access their Facebook account from Blizzard titles such as Overwatch, allowing you to connect with your timeline and even stream gameplay footage directly.

Gio Hunt, an Executive Vice President of Blizzard, welcomed the new feature in an official statement: “Blizzard games are best when played with friends, so it’s important to us to provide our players with features and services that make it easy and fun to share their experiences with each other.”
