With Hello Games’ Sean Murray previously saying that “the chances of you bumping into someone are really, really small” in No Man’s Sky, Sony has confirmed to Game Informer that you won’t need a PlayStation Plus membership to play the upcoming PlayStation 4 title:

PS Plus won’t be a requirement to play online, however you will need to connected to the internet for your discoveries to register with the universal atlas.

According to Steam, No Man’s Sky is a single-player game, with the PlayStation Store adding that online play is optional.

It’s still unclear how big the No Man’s Sky digital download will be, but the retail version is 6GB on disc.

Since No Man’s Sky is out in just over two weeks on August 9 in North America and August 10 in Europe, expect the final Pillar trailer, Survive, to be released very soon.
