The gamescom award 2016 winners were announced earlier today, and the big winner was The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which took home Best of gamescom. Other notable winners include PlayStation VR as Best Hardware, Steep as Best Sports Game, and For Honor as the Best Console Game on PlayStation 4 (it was up against Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, FIFA 17, Final Fantasy XV, and Gran Turismo Sport).

With a jury of representatives of German and international media companies and gaming communities selecting the nominees, here’s the full list of gamescom award 2016 winners:

  • Best of gamescom – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • Consumer Award – Battlefield 1
  • Indie Award – Little Nightmares
  • Best Add-On/DLC – Destiny: Rise of Iron
  • Best Preview/Vision – Horizon Zero Dawn
  • Best Booth – Mafia III
  • Best Console Game (PS4) – For Honor
  • Best Console Game (Xbox One) – Sea of Thieves
  • Best Console Game (Wii U) – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • Best PC Game – For Honor
  • Best Mobile Game – Mario Party Star Rush
  • Best RPG – Final Fantasy XV
  • Best Racing Game – Forza Horizon 3

  • Best Simulation Game – NBA 2K17

  • Best Social/Online Game – Gwent: The Witcher Card Game
  • Best Casual Game – Battlezone
  • Best Multiplayer Game – Sea of Thieves

  • Best Hardware – PlayStation VR

It’s worth noting that the Best Hardware category only had two nominees, PlayStation VR and the ICAROS Flight App, while the Best Racing category only had two nominees as well: Forza Horizon 3 and Gran Turismo Sport. Also, in order to be eligible for Best of gamescom, a game had to have won in a separate category.

Are you surprised by any of the winners?
