Rise of Iron Gets a Launch Trailer, Bungie Doesn’t Want Destiny to Become Pay to Win

Ahead of release on September 20 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Destiny: Rise of Iron received its launch trailer today, giving you a look at some of the content in the expansion: a new cinematic story campaign, a new location called The Plaguelands, the new Felwinter Peak social space, a new six-player Raid, remastered three-player co-op Strikes, and new weapons and gear.

The trailer also mentions Private Matches, which are now live in Destiny on PS4 and Xbox One and don’t require Rise of Iron.

Recently, IGN sat down with Game Director Christopher Barrett, who revealed that Bungie never wants Destiny to become pay to win:

We certainly have a goal of never being pay to win. That’s part of the goal of Destiny. We’ve set that bar for ourselves. It’s really just a lot of feedback from internally at Bungie, and we’re always thinking, ‘Hey, is that going too far into that territory?’ Generally, we all go back to not even getting close.
