Michel Ancel Posts Beyond Good & Evil 2 Teaser on “Ubisoft Day” as the Studio Fights Off Takeover

Michel Ancel has posted yet another Beyond Good & Evil 2 teaser, and this time, it appears to be one of the game’s sharks. It’s quite possible that it’s either Francis or Rufus from the original title.

Interestingly, Ancel captioned the image with a reference to Ubisoft’s shareholder meeting today, writing “‘Ready for the fight’ independence #ubisoft day.”

Today was a big day for Ubisoft as it met Vivendi, the French media company that has been threatening the developer with a hostile takeover. Vivendi had previously said that it wanted board representation but at least for today, Ubisoft emerged victorious as CEO Yves Guillemot and Ubisoft Motion Picture CEO, Gerard Guillemot, were both re-elected to the board. We’ve learned that Yves was re-elected with 65 percent of the vote and both new board members that Ubisoft nominated (Frederique Dame and Florence Naviner) were approved.

However, the threat is far from over. Given Vivendi’s history and its refusal to back out, insiders believe that it’ll continue to seek control and board representation. That said, Ubisoft is choosing to focus on the positive side of today’s meeting. In a statement to Polygon, the developer said:

Today during our Annual General Meeting, Ubisoft shareholders expressed massive support for Ubisoft’s strategy and management. We remain focused on the execution of our strategic roadmap, which has already proven successful and which we are confident will continue to deliver great results and value for all of Ubisoft’s stakeholders. We’re also very happy to welcome two new independent directors, Frederique Dame and Florence Naviner, who will bring their expertise and know-how to Ubisoft’s Board.

As for Beyond Good & Evil 2, we’ll continue to update our readers with developments.
