Overwatch Halloween

A Halloween-Themed Overwatch Event Might Be in the Works

Speculation comes from this screenshot.

Even when Blizzard aren’t making changes to beloved characters, it seems like Overwatch can’t stay out of the headlines. The latest tidbit to cause a fervor within the passionate community comes from a recent Reddit post from r/Overwatch. The post includes the screenshot embedded above, which is a Xbox Store listing for Halloween-themed loot boxes. If you think it’s a photoshop, then check out this video that another user posted (which includes him going up and down on the store’s listing).

If true, the event would seemingly follow the precedent that the Olympics-themed Summer Games event set. Which would mean that players would have a limited amount of time to win some themed gear (just think of all the cute Halloween costumes Blizzard could make). It seems like an obvious step to take, and would certainly make Blizzard a whole lot of money (not that Overwatch is struggling in that regards).

Here’s the entire description from the store page:

Celebrate Halloween with some frightening treats for our heroes during a new event: Overwatch Halloween Terror!

Trick out your collection by picking up Halloween Loot Boxes, available for a limited time*. Every Loot Box contains up to four cosmetic items, including at least one Halloween skin, spray, highlight intro, emote, victory pose, player icon, voice line, or credits that you can use to unlock other items. More than 100 Halloween items are waiting to be unwrapped!

If your Halloween Loot Box contains an item that is already in your collection, you will instead receive coins.

*Halloween Loot Boxes are available to purchase or earn in-game until 11/1/16 at 4pm PT.

Also of note is the skull design that can be seen on the Xbox Store page’s background. One of the candies is emblazoned with the icon that many fans associate with Sombra, the next hero rumored to join Overwatch. This might mean that a new character may debut alongside the Halloween event.

We’ll update our post if Blizzard confirms the event, but until then you can debate if it’s real or not in the comments below.
