Emily Kaldwin Takes Center Stage in Latest Dishonored 2 Gameplay

Emily Kaldwin is one of two playable protagonists featured in Dishonored 2. But what drives the rightful Empress of the Isles? What are her unique powers and motivations?

Hoping to shed some light on those questions is an all-new gameplay snippet for Arkane’s stealth-action sequel, this time placing the emphasis on Emily and her many abilities. Indeed during the early days of development, Creative Director Harvey Smith noted that the studio focused on three pillars for Emily’s character: “Empress, Dunwall, Assassin.” Forced to leave Dunwall to reclaim what is rightfully hers, Smith adds, “The contrast for her is huge. She was an Empress one day, the next day she’s on the run.”

That makes a nice contrast to Corvo Attano, the agent who originally hails from Karnaca. Don’t be fooled into thinking that Corvo is necessarily stronger than Emily, though, with Lead Designer Dinga Bakaba revealing that, “when we decided that Emily got to have her own powers, they needed to be interesting enough to be as cool as Corvo’s.”

Dishonored 2 makes a beeline for PS4, Xbox One and PC on November 11 — meaning review copies will be sent out no sooner than November 10.
