Nioh Being Published By Sony, PS4 Pro Modes Include 2160p/30fps & 1080p/60fps

When action RPG Nioh releases on February 9, 2017 for PlayStation 4, it will be published by Sony Interactive Entertainment in North America, Europe, and Asia, with Koei Tecmo presumably still handling publishing in Japan. According to Team Ninja’s Yosuke Hayashi, they’re working with Sony to get Nioh “into as many hands as possible.”

Nioh will support PS4 Pro at launch, allowing Team Ninja to boost the different gameplay modes on 1080p and 4K TVs. As Team Ninja details, PS4 Pro owners can choose to run Nioh at 2160p/30 frames-per-second or 1080p/60fps on a 4K TV:

PS4 Pro Nioh Options

4K TVs

  • Movie Mode – Stable 3840×2160 resolution at 30fps.
  • Action Mode – Stable 1920×1080 resolution at 60fps.

1080p TVs

  • Movie Mode – Stable 1920×1080 resolution with high quality anti-aliasing at 30fps.
  • Action Mode – Stable 1920×1080 resolution at 60fps.

You can also play Nioh on a standard PS4 in 30fps, 30+fps, or 60fps:

PS4 Nioh Options

  • Movie Mode – This mode focuses on resolution over frame rate, offering beautiful high resolution graphics with stable 30fps.
  • Action Mode – Here the emphasis is on frame rate, providing a stable 60fps.
  • Movie Mode (Variable Frame Rate) – This option provides high resolution graphics with a variable frame rate that may go over 30fps.

Expect Nioh pre-orders to go live soon.
