the last of us remastered update

The Last of Us Remastered Runs at 2160p/30fps or 1800p/60fps on PS4 Pro

Earlier this month, Naughty Dog added PlayStation 4 Pro support to The Last of Us Remastered and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. In a new blog post, Senior Communications Manager Scott Lowe revealed that players with a PS4 Pro and a 4K TV can play Uncharted 4’s single-player at 1440p (up from 1080p) and multiplayer at 1080p (up from 900p), with TLOUR getting even bigger resolution increases:

For those with a 4K display, Uncharted 4’s story can be played on PS4 Pro at 1440p resolution, up from 1080p on PS4. Multiplayer’s fluid, high-framerate gameplay remains the same, but the resolution has also been increased to a full 1080p on PS4 Pro, up from 900p on PS4. The Last of Us Remastered, on the other hand, allows you to choose whether you want to play in the game’s original target framerate of 30 frames per second at 2160p or at a high targeted 60 frames per second at 1800p.

If you just have a 1080p display, both Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us Remastered “will render at the highest resolution and downscale the super-sampled image to 1080p, resulting in noticeably crisp and smooth graphics.”

Thanks to the increased resolution on PS4 Pro, you’ll find more detail in the textures and smoother and sharper edges, and it allows Naughty Dog to “maintain that fidelity in motion, eliminating the shimmering that you might see on the standard PS4.”

Those PS4 Pro updates to both games also brought HDR support. If you have an HDR-capable display and either a PS4 Pro or PS4, you’ll notice an expanded range of color and brightness.

Answering a question about The Last of Us Remastered’s PS4 Pro support, Lowe confirmed that you’ll have to set the 30fps or 60fps option in the Display setting. The resolution will then change accordingly to either 2160p or 1800p.

Have you played any PS4 Pro games on a 4K TV yet?
