Ubisoft: Watch Dogs 2 Patch to Fix the Seamless Multiplayer Is in Certification

Over the weekend, it was discovered that Ubisoft has taken Watch Dogs 2’s seamless multiplayer functionality offline, as it caused “the game to lag and crash periodically.” In a new statement sent to Eurogamer, Ubisoft has revealed that the patch to fix multiplayer is currently in certification with Sony and Microsoft for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One:

During the pre-launch phase of Watch Dogs 2, we discovered an issue tied to the seamless multiplayer feature that caused the game to lag and crash periodically. In order to eliminate that issue at launch and for players to enjoy a smooth game play experience, we have decided to wait to launch the seamless multiplayer feature until the patch that fixes this issue is deployed. The patch is currently in certification by Sony and Xbox.

Since approval is up to Sony and Microsoft, Ubisoft didn’t give an ETA on when the patch will go live.

If you happen to pick up Watch Dogs 2 tomorrow, November 15 and the seamless multiplayer isn’t available yet, you’ll still be able to access the single-player without any issues. Additionally, you can play co-op by inviting friends through the game menu. “But that does mean that the Bounty-Hunter mode and other activities that would occur with other outside players who enter your game will be unavailable until the patch is deployed on each platform,” they add.

Ubisoft then directs to the Watch Dogs 2 Community site for further updates. However, the latest post on the site is from November 11 and focuses on the Code of Conduct, with the first key point saying, “The maximum penalty for cheaters includes automatic and permanent banning from online activities on the first provable offense.”
