Stardew Valley Developer “Very, Very Interested” in Vita Version

Stardew Valley Vita

Good news today for fans of Sony’s struggling handheld as a popular request might just get granted. Eric Barone, the developer of popular indie farming title Stardew Valley, revealed that he’s “very, very interested” in bringing the game to PlayStation Vita. This comment was made while responding to a fan asking for the port over at the PlayStation Blog.

Here’s the full comment where Barone says he’d like to see it on the Vita, but can’t guarantee that it’ll happen:

“I can’t make any guarantees just yet, but I will say that I’m very, very interested in seeing a PS Vita version. It’s a very popular request, and I think it would be a great fit.”

A PlayStation Vita version may not be a lock to happen just yet, but PlayStation 4 owners will get to check out the game very soon. That’s because Stardew Valley releases on Sony’s console next week (December 13 in North America, December 14 in Europe). That’s exciting news as the game received critical and commercial acclaim when it released on PC in February of this year. Fans have been eagerly anticipating the console port and now it’s almost here.

If you’re unsure about the Harvest Moon-inspired title, here’s how Barone explains it:

“In Stardew Valley, you’ll inherit your grandfather’s old farm and move away from the city to start a new life on your own. Over time, you’ll gain new skills and learn to live off the land. You’ll make friends with the locals, learn their stories, and maybe even start a family with one of the 12 bachelors or bachelorettes. Stardew Valley gives you plenty of freedom to create the homestead of your dreams!”

Stardew Valley is set to release on PlayStation 4 on December 13. That’s right before the holiday break, which is good since the game might take over player’s lives during that span.
