Discovered shortly after the game launched, the “weird NPC face” in Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection has been fixed.
Released yesterday, Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection update 1.02 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One contained fixes for these issues, according to the PS4’s Update History: “A weird NPC face appears in Assassin’s Creed 2 Sequence 1, Memory 1″ and “Background music stops after performing a synchronization on a view point in Assassin’s Creed 2.”
Over on the Ubisoft Forums, Ubisoft was a little less specific about the weird NPC face in the official patch notes:
- Fixed an issue where the background music gets cut when synchronizing a high reach point in Assassin’s Creed II.
- Fixed a visual issue that may appear in the beginning cut scene Assassin’s Creed II.
Back when Polygon posted a video of the NPC face (skip to 1:10 of the above video), Ubisoft responded by saying, “The NPC in question only appears in Sequence 1, Memory 1 in Assassin’s Creed 2 and is randomly generated, appearing infrequently.”
If you bought The Ezio Collection at retail, don’t forget that you have a ticket to see the Assassin’s Creed movie, out next week.
