It’s Official: Yooka-Laylee Has Gone Gold

Horizon Zero Dawn isn’t the only title to reach gold status today; Yooka-Laylee, the Kickstarter darling from Playtonic Games, has officially gone gold ahead of its release on April 11.

Word comes by way of the studio’s official blog, confirming that two years on from the moment Yooka-Laylee announced itself to the world, development is all but complete as Playtonic begins the process of shipping the final build for printing and packaging. Those who pledged their support via Kickstarter will soon be invited to select their platform of choice, with Playtonic’s blog post noting that:

“Very soon we will unlock BackerKit surveys and allow you to make final adjustments to your game platform including Nintendo Switch, plus the opportunity to upgrade to a physical version for PS4 and XB1. Wii U backers affected by our recent announcement can also request a refund.

“Ahead of console surveys being unlocked (we will send another update to let you know when that happens), we encourage all Kickstarter backers to make sure they have access to their BackerKit account and contact BackerKit support to solve any issues. We’ve also prepared a detailed FAQ that should answer any questions you may have.”

Yooka-Laylee takes flight for PS4, Xbox One and PC on April 11. It’ll then make the jump to Nintendo Switch later in 2017.
