Square Enix Currently Has No DLC Planned Beyond the Three Character Episodes

Update:

The article’s original headline did not clearly represent the quote from Square Enix producer Haruyoshi Sawatari. It has been updated to better reflect the quote and the content of the article.

Original Story:

Episode Gladiolus, the first major DLC and the first of three post-launch episodes scheduled for Final Fantasy XV is releasing in a few weeks (check out the episode’s first 15 minutes here). And in an interview with GameSpot, Haruyoshi Sawatari, the main producer of the DLC chapters, hinted at the possibility that the game could see more character DLCs after the upcoming post-launch episodes are released.

In the interview, Sawatari explains that while the studio currently isn’t working on any more character episodes beyond the three episodes currently planned for release, if they were to work on more they would look at the feedback given by the game’s fans to decide which character to feature. Sawatari cited that their objective for the year is to give back to the fans.

Outside of the three current episode DLCs, we don’t have anything beyond that. But this year is all about giving back to our fan base, so if we were to continue the DLC, we would probably see what the feedback is.

Final Fantasy XV: Episode Gladiolus is coming out on March 28 and the next episode, Episode Prompto, is scheduled to come out sometime in June. The third episode, which will be called Episode Ignis, currently has no release date yet. Each of the episodes can be purchased individually for $4.99 or the game’s Season Pass could be purchased for $24.99 to get all three episodes and more DLC.
