Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Won’t Include Nathan Drake, Naughty Dog Says

Set roughly six months after Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and following Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross as they attempt to find the Tusk of Ganesh on the southern tip of India, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy won’t feature an appearance by Nathan Drake, Naughty Dog has revealed.

Writer Josh Scherr explained on the PlayStation Blog:

We entertained a few possible ideas around including Nate as a secondary character. But everything we did felt superfluous because we tied it all up with Uncharted 4.

Game Director Kurt Margenau added, “We’re not going to touch on Nathan Drake in this, at all.”

As for what Nate might be up to during the events of The Lost Legacy, Scherr said, “You can sort of imagine Drake sitting on the couch playing Crash Bandicoot while Chloe and Nadine are off galavanting.” Margenau added, “Yeah, the Crash Bandicoot remaster.”

In terms of environments in The Lost Legacy, you can expect jungles, mountains, temples, and the urban area shown in the trailer. Along with traversal challenges, puzzles, and shootouts in those environments, The Lost Legacy will also include new hidden treasures.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is scheduled for a 2017 launch, but according to Sony Interactive Entertainment America Social Media Director Sid Shuman, it was “still early in development” when he checked it out last month.
