Star Ocean Producer Announces New Role in VR Field Following Departure From Square Enix

Star Ocean Valkyrie Profile producer Yoshinori Yamagishi, who recently announced his resignation from Square Enix after more than 20 years of service, has revealed that he’ll now work in the virtual reality field.

“I hope to make a new game at another company in the future, so please remember me again when that time comes,” he said last week. His new employer is Monobit, which is an online games and communication middleware company whose recent projects include Koji Igarashi’s Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

According to 4Gamer.net, Yamagishi will use his expertise to work on Japan’s first virtual reality MMORPG alongside other VR content. He expressed his confidence in the genre, stating that it has a lot of potential for growth and that it’s only just getting started.

We wish him the best of luck.
