Battlefield 1 to Receive Monthly Updates, Spring Update Will Include Platoons

“Considering all we have in store,” developer DICE has announced that they’ll be releasing monthly updates for Battlefield 1, rather than seasonal ones. “With this new tempo, we’re going to bring you more of what you want, faster than ever,” they added.

DICE didn’t give a release date today, but they did say that the upcoming Spring Update will include the Platoons feature. This will allow you to “organize and join forces with your friends, execute swift victories, and achieve goals as one unit.”

As for the May Update, you can expect quality of life improvements:

This includes streamlining the flow into matches (especially Operations) and improving many gameplay grievances that will hopefully make the action feel more balanced and fair. The development team is also working on a feature update to the Battlefield 1 Rent-a-Server Program which we hope to release soon.

The next Battlefield 1 expansion is called In the Name of the Tsar, and DICE had this to say about it today:

Battlefield 1 In The Name Of The Tsar will bring you to the Eastern Front, where you will fight alongside the Russian army and witness the brutality of combat and the bitter cold of the Russian winters… Prepare yourself for all new tactics employed by the Russian army. Though the frost is cold, the steel is colder.

If you’ve been using the Premium Friends feature, keep in mind that the initial test run will end on Sunday, April 9.
