First announced at E3 2015, Shenmue III won’t be making an appearance at E3 2017, developer Ys Net revealed in their third Dev Room Progress Report. According to their message, this is because the month of June will be devoted to game development:

We have also been receiving questions from our backers regarding our plans to participate in upcoming game shows. While our schedule has yet to be finalized, we will be devoting June to game development and as a result, will unfortunately not be participating in any game shows. On the other hand, we look forward to bringing you our monthly updates and hope you do too!

In the video accompanying the Progress Report, Ys Net showed off the model for a new character, but didn’t provide any details on who they are:

Shenmue III is scheduled for a December 2017 launch on PlayStation 4 and PC, but that date is subject to change.

According to a February 2017 report, remastered versions of the first two Shenmue games are on the way, though PC is the only platform mentioned.
