Graphics Analysis of Days Gone’s E3 Demo Highlights Dynamic 4K and More

Digital Foundry has released a new video, offering a tech and graphical analysis of Days Gones E3 2017 demo, which you can check out above.

The video, which shows the game running on the PlayStation 4 Pro in 4K mode, reveals that the game’s utilizing dynamic 4K. In the past, Sony Bend said that it was using the checkerboarding technique. “Presumably checkerboarding is still there but we’re also looking at a dynamic resolution that scales depending on rendering load,” notes Digital Foundry.

We’re also told that in a previous demo, Sony Bend showed up to 300 zombies, aka Freakers, on the screen and in its own internal tests, the studio has had up to 1,000 Freakers on screen at one point. Considering this, Digital Foundry says that a dynamic resolution is expected as the game could do with “a bit of flex in rendering resolution.”
