Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Behind-the-Scenes Video Talks About the Game, Offers New Footage

“The reason we moved away from Drake was that we felt that we wrapped that story up on Uncharted 4, and that’s really the motivation to find a new cast of characters that could actually carry on the Uncharted legacy,” Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Creative Director Shaun Escayg says at the beginning of the new behind-the-scenes video.

Uncharted is more than just Nathan Drake, and I think maybe it makes people think a little differently about the Uncharted series as far as what they think of when they think of Uncharted,” Game Director Kurt Margenau added. He later said, “We’re treating it as seriously as an Uncharted game. The game could stand on its own as an entry in the series.”

Escayg also brought up how Naughty Dog thought about doing a story revolving around Sully and Sam, saying, “But they all were very closely related to U4, so we wanted something that was fresh, something that was new, and Chloe being a fan favorite we thought we would explore her story.”

Beginning at 1:35 (and appearing again at 3:30), you’ll see some The Lost Legacy gameplay with Chloe travelling through the city while under attack.

Naughty Dog teased that “we’ll have more exciting things to share in the days and weeks ahead” of launch on August 22 in North America and August 23 in Europe. They’ve “also got a few things up our sleeves for MP to celebrate the launch of UTLL. More details soon!”
