EA to Debut Star Wars Battlefront II’s Starfighter Assault Mode at Gamescom

Electronic Arts has announced that it’ll be debuting Star Wars Battlefront II‘s Starfighter Assault mode at this year’s Gamescom alongside a never-before-seen trailer for the game. The gameplay reveal, which will pit two teams against each other in a “multi-stage original trilogy-era space battle,” can be watched live on August 21, at 09:30AM PT at EA.com.

“Teams will face off in a swirling dogfight in the Fondor: Imperial Shipyard map, weaving around an Imperial Star Destroyer complete with speedy fighters, thundering bombers, distinct hero ships, and more,” writes EA. “Will the brave pilots of the Rebel Alliance triumph against the Imperial Navy, or will the intrepid aces of the Galactic Empire foil the insurgents’ plans?”

Fans have been promised “vastly improved” starfighter combat, “superior” controls, extensive customization, and an all-new class-based system for team play.

The Fondor: Imperial Shipyard will be available in the beta this October.

Star Wars Battlefront II releases on November 17 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. PlayStation LifeStyle’s Paulmichael Contreras got his hands on the game at this year’s E3. If you haven’t already, you can check out his multiplayer preview here, and single-player preview here.
