CD Projekt RED have revealed that the GWENT story mode will be called GWENT: Thronebreaker, and that players of The Witcher 3‘s standalone card game will get to check it out later this year. The campaign will take players to “never-before-seen parts of The Witcher world.” The mode’s quests will also feature battles will twist the ruleset in new ways.

Here’s how CD Projekt RED describes the mode:

GWENT: Thronebreaker spins a truly regal tale of Meve — a war-veteran queen of two Northern Realms. Facing an imminent foreign invasion, Meve is forced to once again enter the warpath, and sets out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge.

Throughout the campaign, players will explore new and never-before-seen parts of The Witcher world, embark on thought-provoking quests, gather resources, as well as engage in custom-made story battles, which twist the game’s rules in wildly unexpected ways. GWENT: Thronebreaker will release this year on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Additionally, the game’s competitive mode, called GWENT Masters, was also detailed. This is a season-based mode that’ll be comprised of official tournaments, and it’ll all culminate in one player being crowned the “first ever GWENT World Champion.” A trailer for the esports offering can be checked out below.

For those that aren’t familiar with GWENT, here’s a brief overview via the developer:

In GWENT: The Witcher Card Game, gamers clash with their friends in fast-paced duels that combine bluffing, on-the-fly decision making and careful deck construction. The game is played over a best-of-three series of rounds, as players unleash their hand by slinging spells and diverse units with special abilities and use clever tricks to deceive their opponents.
