Okami HD for PS4 Confirmed in Japan

Okami HD PS4 Version

Okami has been considered one of Capcom’s greatest games. Originally developed by Hideki Kamiya’s Clover Studio and released on PlayStation 2 in 2006, it was highly praised for its beautiful Japanese-style music and visuals. An HD remaster of Okami had been also released for PlayStation 3 in 2012, and 5 years later today, we’ve been hearing a couple of rumors that Okami HD will be re-released again for current-gen consoles like the PlayStation 4.

Information from this week’s Weekly Famitsu magazine indicates that Capcom has indeed confirmed that they are going to make a new Okami HD re-release. All providers of early Famitsu magazine information: Alternator, Ryokutya, and Hachima, have reported that Okami HD will be released in Japan for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on December 21, and also for PC (presumably Steam) on December 13. It is to be noted, however, that only the PS4 version will receive a physical copy as well as a limited edition in Japan, while Xbox One and PC versions will be only available digitally there.

The new re-release of Okami HD will bring back the minigame that showed up on the loading screen. In addition to the now standard 16:9 ratio, it will also support 4:3 for those who want to have a nostalgia of playing the original PS2 game with the old ratio. Furthermore, PS4 Pro will also support 4K resolution for the game.

We can’t wait to see how Okami HD will perform in the current-gen consoles. For the time being, you can check out our review of the PlayStation 3 version of Okami HD.
