Madden NFL 18 dominated the PlayStation Store downloads, and the same proved for overall sales in the US. The latest August 2017 NPD sales report places Madden NFL 18 as the top dog , as it beat out Grand Theft Auto V for the top place. It’s incredibly impressive that GTA V was able to outsell Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which rounded out the top three, several years after it released.
As far as hardware goes, the Nintendo Switch once again managed to be the best selling console. It still hasn’t edged out Sony as the best selling system so far this year, but it’s only a matter of time if Nintendo is able to keep up their momentum.
Due to the Switch’s success it’s not surprising that the top 10 were rounded out with several of Nintendo’s biggest franchises. Splatoon 2, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Mario Kart 8 all cracked the top of the charts. Finally, several shooters (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, Overwatch, and Rainbow Six: Siege) and a nostalgia trip (Crash Bandicoot) also managed to sell well during August despite not being new releases.
