Konami announced Zone of the Enders VR during Sony’s Tokyo Game Show 2017 press conference. The PlayStation VR exclusive title will release in 2018, and is part of Konami’s popular mecha series.
The original games were produced by Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima. He obviously won’t be involved in this project, but had previously talked about how he wanted to continue the series. Here’s a quote from Kojima in 2011 about continuing the series:
We would like to make Zone of The Enders 3 just as the fans do, but we don’t have the manpower required to make such a game.
However, we do have a good platform for a Zone of the Enders 3 with the proprietary Fox Engine. So once we do have the staff required, we would be very excited to make this game which many fans have been asking for.
